When asked to in any way justify his lack of action, when he’s literally in charge of the Covid-19 task force, as he attends super-spreader events where many of his own co-workers are infected… he over and over invokes the grand sacrifices of the American people.
Sacrifices.
Coming from such a rather religious Vice President, that word sounds most grim in my mind.
Because the millions that are getting Covid-19 aren’t choosing to get sick.
They’re not choosing to die — they’re often working very hard to avoid it.
It’s the choices of those setting the rules they live by — those making the recommendations we all live with together — that are sacrificing them, against their will.
God at least had the decency to send an angel to save the one human sacrifice put before Him, in the Vice President's religion — but when Pence had the choice — he chose to enact the sacrifice before him.
And then proclaim it as a great act of the American people.
He chose pride in that sacrifice he put them to.
Because he had no other refuge in his made-up version of morality.
