Dear Donald Trump,
Sacrifice requires sacrifice — by definition. Sacrifice means you give up something you hold dear and precious — that you ‘lose’ something in the process. If you ‘lose’ something, you are a ‘loser’. You have made it your trademark to chastise ‘losers’ in your arrogant and self-righteous insults. You don’t like ‘losers’, plain and simple.
Humayun Khan was a ‘loser’ because he lost his life fighting for this country you say you love. He lost his life in selfless sacrifice, protecting his fellow American soldiers from harm. Humayun Khan is an American HERO and a ‘loser’ and you don’t respect ‘losers’.
Khizr and Ghazala Khan are ‘losers’ because they lost their son. They supported the decision of their brave, patriotic son to fly off and serve the country they all loved. Their boy did not come back alive because he made sure other parents’ sons would. Khizr and Ghazala Khan are strong, proud, PATRIOTIC ‘losers and you don’t respect ‘losers’.
Senator Captain John McCain is a ‘loser’ because he lost 5 ½ years of his life, and full use of his arms because he was captured and tortured after being shot down in an airplane in active combat while serving in the U.S. Navy. Senator McCain is an American HERO and a ‘loser’ and you don’t respect ‘losers’.
Humayun Khan, Khizr and Ghazala Khan, John McCain, and hundreds of thousands of others have made extremely difficult, hard, painful, deadly sacrifices for this county, and in recognition of their pain and their service to America, they have EARNED Purple Hearts. It was sad — but not unexpected — that you were perfectly happy to take the easy way out to ‘receive’ your Purple Heart, while simultaneously disrespecting and denigrating those that have sacrificed so much, down to their very life, to get theirs. Your total lack of compassion and basic decency is very disappointing, to say the least, and quite simply unbecoming of a leader, an elected official, much less President of the United States of America and Commander-in-Chief.
Maybe the presidential historians will prove me wrong, but I am unaware of ANY U.S. President — or Presidential WannaBe — who has EVER shown such disregard and disrespect for our brave Purple Heart and/or Gold Star recipients as you have, Mr. Trump. You may very well go down in the annals of history as the Greatest Disrespecter-In-Chief!
I will close with a very brief history lesson for you to consider the next time you decide to deride any Hero ‘Losers’ and pause to think what they had to sacrifice to get their Purple Hearts...
